Recognize A Pipeline Leak

        How To Recognize A Leak

Your senses of sight, hearing, and smell are the best ways of recognizing a pipeline leak. Signs of leakage may include:

        • a dense white cloud of fog
        • ice patches on ground or pipeline

        • Unusual noises from a slight hiss to a roaring sound

        • The propane in the pipeline is unodorized and is in a chemically pure state. Practically, however, there may be faint odors associated with a pipeline leak which may be described as slightly metallic or sulphurous.
